SHIRMS 2008 will be an innovative symposium bringing together rock mechanics researchers and practitioners from the main areas of earth sciences to exchange ideas and lessons learnt, and to develop further collaboration and synergies. This symposium will set the agenda for future research and operational directions, and ensure the ongoing viability of the mining and civil engineering industries. Key topic areas are: mining, civil engineering, petroleum and fundamental rock mechanics.
